He and I

My name is Renice and I'm mom to the wonderful, funny, likeable and brilliant Mckenzie. He's our first child of three and of course that makes him the guinea pig in all areas, including learning. As we've waded through the school years we've learned something quite well; that traditional 'school' is not the best at bringing out all the wonder and smarts that Mckenzie has inside him. He doesn't fit into the one size fits all mould, because he's one of a kind. While he had a great school and incredible teachers it still didn't allow him to shine the way we know he can. As middle school approached, and after months of considering our options we decided with excitment and trepidation to bring his learning back home. Not because we think we can do it better, but because we know we can do it differently. So that is our hope, that by doing things differently both he and I will learn new things in ways that actually stick and become relevant in our daily lives. That we can learn in ways that are fun and don't even feel like learning. This will be the journal of our adventure. We hope you enjoy!
